Michael J. Barnes (MJB) is one of fewer than 100 Certified Mortgage Planning Specialists (CMPS) in Arizona, a distinction that reflects his deep expertise in mortgage finance and strategic loan planning. In addition to holding CMPS and CMA designations, as well as an AMP, MJB helps clients build wealth and reduce tax liabilities through personalized, efficient mortgage strategies tailored to each family’s unique financial goals.

With over 30 years of experience in the origination and securitization of both residential and commercial mortgages, MJB currently serves as Branch Manager and Loan Officer at Success Mortgage Partners—a Michigan-based firm with his partner, Leslie Ahrendt. In his leadership role, he is actively involved in daily operations, mentoring staff, and guiding the company’s strategic direction. Michael J. is passionate about both personal and professional development.

MJB takes pride in personally overseeing the applicant screening process and providing timely market insights to both clients and team members. He also ensures compliance with state licensing regulations and remains hands-on throughout the closing and funding of every mortgage loan processed through his branch.

Renowned for his expertise in complex mortgage strategies and real estate acquisition and development, MJB has spoken internationally on mortgage finance and has led REALTOR training sessions on contract writing. He is a proud member of the National Mortgage Bankers Association, the Arizona Mortgage Lenders Association, and the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA).

Michael J. and his wife, Leslie, live in North Phoenix with their three children—sons Chase and MJ, and daughter Alice.
